04/02--Present: Independent Retirement Plan Consultant; Atlanta, Georgia.

 

Provide retirement plan administration and consulting services to small/medium size plan clientele on a contract basis. Duties and responsibilities include management and supervision of plans, preparing plan valuations, maintaining benefit records and performing trust accounting and financial reconciliations. Accomplished and knowledgeable of profit sharing, 401(k), money purchase, ESOP’s, and defined benefit plans. Defined benefit plan experience includes plan design, determining accrued benefits, and calculating present values. Experienced with post-normal retirement accruals, permitted disparity, coverage and nondiscrimination. Experienced working with various plan benefit formulas including flat, fixed and unit benefits and those integrated with Social Security. Versed in working with early retirement benefits, ancillary and incidental benefits and dealing with issues related to Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the operations for the Southeast Region of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). Provide management and supervision of the day-to-day activities of 47 employees. Review plan terminations to determine time frames, funding requirements, procedures for accomplishing projects, and allotment of available resources including staffing. Confer with staff to outline workplans and to assign duties, responsibilities and scope of authority to ensure scheduled timeframes are met and within budget. Prepare detailed project reports for management and clients. Consult with actuaries to ensure plan valuations and complex benefit calculations are completed timely and that benefit statements are accurately prepared. Confer with personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems. Develop and implement internal improvements to concur with audit findings. Responsible for developing, analyzing and managing the budget for the regional office. Negotiate employee salaries; evaluate employee performance and outline employee growth and development.

 

01/95--11/00: Senior Vice President of Administration, Fortune Benefits, Inc.; Atlanta, Georgia.

 

Responsible for the overall management, direction and supervision of the Company's third-party recordkeeping department. Proven analytical and problem solving skills demonstrated by supervising record keeping operation. This included ensuring that plan valuations, allocations, distributions, discrimination and other compliance testing and financial reconciliation's were completed timely and accurately.
